Chef John Spadaro has always had a passion for Sports, Cooking and Family. He played football at Monterey High School, coached baseball for the both Monterey and Toro PONY baseball programs, and also coached football at Monterey High.
John was also a long-time owner of Tutto Bono in Monterey with his family, and Spado’s restaurant in Salinas. John was also very generous with his time supporting the community. John founded and organized the annual Lenten Dinners at Madonna Del Sasso Church in Salinas, was a board member of the Santa Rosalia – Festa Italia responsible for overseeing all of the food/beverage booths, and also fed the Hartnell College basketball team every year at Spado’s for free.
But most of all, John had great love for family and his friends. He enjoyed spending hours at a time just hanging out with his good friends, his “Compari”, drinking coffee, cracking jokes, cooking and sharing great dinners during our weekly Monday Night Football feasts, and watching his San Francisco Giants. John was loved by all who had the pleasure of meeting and getting to know him, and will be genuinely missed.
So to honor John’s memory, his family, and group of his close friends teamed up to continue to the good work that John started by creating the The John Spadaro Youth Foundation.
The John Spadaro Youth Foundation was established to support a variety of youth needs throughout our community. Whether it’s to help an under-privileged child purchase a set of cleats, a Baseball Glove, or helping to pay sign up fees for kids to play sports who come from families that may not have the financial means to support a child’s passion for sports. The Foundation also supports other youth sporting events such as the Bronco World Series, Frank Sollecito Jr. Invitational Easter Baseball Tournament which raises funds for the local chapter of the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society.
All money raised is distributed locally to our youth who live and play in either the Monterey Peninsula or the Salinas Valley. The foundation is staffed 100% by generous volunteers who give their time, talents, and money to this very worthwhile organization, so 100% of the fundraising proceeds go to and benefit local youth and their families.
Organized youth sports are a great outlet for fun, and provide kids a competitive environment that enables friends and family to participate in healthy activities that are as enjoyable they are challenging.
We appreciate your generous support of the John Spadaro Youth Foundation.
